Stream Teams United and the Wichita State University Environmental Finance Center hosted an online "train the trainer" webinar series on November 10 and 12, 2020. Find the recording and Missouri "Work in Water" resources at the link below:
Work in Water Experience teaches high school students about the critical role that public water utilities fill in their community. This unique, hands-on learning program allows students to see the skills, technology, and jobs that are working to ensure the public has access to safe, healthy drinking water and water recycling resources.
The Wichita State University Environmental Finance Center created Work in Water as a classroom learning module and summer internship program for high school students. The goal of Work in Water is to increase students' knowledge of the importance of water treatment for the environment and public health, and to stimulate interest in occupations in environmental water management. The Work in Water program was created with funding provided by the US EPA.
Not only does Work in Water aim to fill positions that are crucial to community health and safety, it also plans to show students the vast ways their unique skills and talents can be used in a public service career after college, or straight out of high school.
Stream Teams United is working to connect Stream Team volunteers, high schools, and local utilities with the opportunity to host a Work in Water experience in local communities in Missouri.
