BECOMING A MISSOURI CLEAN MARINA
The Missouri Clean Marina program is a voluntary, incentive-based program that encourages marina operators and recreational boaters to protect water quality by engaging in environmentally sound operating and maintenance procedures.
The goal of this program is to improve and protect the water quality of Missouri Lakes. The marina and boating industry depends on clean waters for their continued success. Becoming a Missouri Clean Marina allows the marina to publicly demonstrate they are taking actions in being good stewards of water quality.
Enrollment Process
To apply for this program marina must submit an application, sign the pledge, complete the pre-survey checklist, and meet 50% of the mandatory requirements. Once these items are completed and submitted the marina is enrolled in the program. Enrolled Marinas then have a 6 month period to meet designation requirements.
*At time of enrollment marina will be listed as a participant of the Missouri Clean Marina Program with the status of “Enrolled”.
Missouri Clean Marina Designation
To be designated as a Missouri Clean Marina, enrolled marinas must meet all mandatory items and 40% of applicable points, complete a post survey checklist, be inspected by a Missouri Clean Marina representative, and pay required application fees. Participants of this program will be required to renew their designation every three years.
*At time of designation marina will receive program recognition to include: signage, flags, educational materials, status updated to “Designated” and points earned on mocleanmarina.org website, and a press release announcing designation.
Program Fees
Program fees for participation in the Missouri Clean Marina Program are determined by the Missouri Stream Team Association who has been designated to administer the program at their adopted lake. For lakes in the White River region, including Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo, the program is administered by H2Ozarks. For Lake of the Ozarks, the program is administered by the Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance (LOWA). For all other lakes in Missouri, the program is administered by Stream Teams United, who also serves as a statewide partner to promote Missouri Clean Marinas.
Inspections
Inspection of the enrolled marina will occur after the post-survey checklist is submitted and designation requirements have been met. Inspection will be completed by a Clean Marina representative. A reduced inspection will occur annually at marinas that are inspected by other entities such as state, federal, or private partners. At time of renewal marina will be inspected by a Clean Marina representative.
